About Our Team
Jacky Bolken, Treatment Coordinator
Jacky Bolken has enjoyed being in the dental field over 25 years.
Jacky began her dental career in North Dakota where she attended North Dakota State School of Science for dental assisting. While raising her family of three daughters, Jacky worked several years in ND, becoming well versed in both front and clinical aspects of a dental office. Jacky and family relocated to Redondo Beach in 1991.
Since moving to California Jacky has attended numerous courses ranging from practice management to implantology. She is excited about the technical revolution in dentistry and what we have to offer patients today.
Working closely with our patients is important to Jacky to ensure their comfort, answer their questions and make their visit to SMILEWORKS a positive experience.

Alicia Powless, Dental Hygienist
Alicia (or Ali, as she likes to be called) originally hails from Arizona and moved to Southern California in the summer of 2008. she graduated from The Forsyth Institute for Dental Hygienists in Boston in 2003.
Ali has been in the dental field for 15 years and loves to practice dental hygiene. Her goal during your visits is to make you as comfortable as possible and maybe even make you laugh during your cleaning. "Having your teeth cleaned can actually be a relatively pain-free experience for most people - that's my goal," says Ali. She believes in making sure you understand the importance of oral health and how important it is to take care of your teeth and gums.
When not at work, Ali enjoys the outdoors with her husband, Justin, and daughter, Karissa. She looks forward to getting to know you, your family and your oral health.
Melissa Gunn-Hall, Dental Hygienist
A true Southern Belle. Melissa was born
in Georgia and grew up most of her life in Florida. She was trained in
dental hygiene at West Los Ange
les dental hygiene school and graduated
at the top of her class. She teaches at West LA hygiene & UCLA
dental school. Her specialty is hospital dentistry, working with
special needs patients and very medically compromised patients. She
recently
moved to Hermosa Beach
with her husband and two of her three children.
Her oldest daughter, Myah, just did back up vocals for Britney Spear’s
Circus album and is working on another album in Las Vegas. Her
identical twins, Phoebe and Delilah go to Hermosa Valley and love it.
When not working, Melissa enjoys running, reading, family events and
finishing her second book. She just completed another dental hygiene
state board to work with patients in nursing and hospital facilities.
Jessica Lemus, Registered Dental Assistant
Jessica was born in El Salvador and then moved to California in 1988. She joined the SMILEWORKS team and helped open our practice in June 2007. As one of our original team members, Jessica knows all about the SMILEWORKS family and always has a smile for her patients and co-workers.
She has been in the dental field for 10 years and has been an RDA for the last 9 years. Jessica is also trained in our computer assisted porcelain restoration system, CEREC, in design, stain and glaze, GALILEOS 3D CT Imaging and Digital X-rays.
Jessica believes in comforting you before, during and after your dental treatments. She is a huge fan of the L.A. Dodgers and makes it a point to attend as many games as possible every season.
Trinh Le, Registered Dental Assistant
Trinh is originally from Vietnam. She moved to the United Stated in 1991 with her family and has been in the dental field for eight years. She joined the SMILEWORKS team in August of 2008.
Trinh brings her chairside dental experience to SMILEWORKS. Along with her education, she brings a strong passion and knowledge of general dentistry. She is always here to make sure you are comfortable during your dental experience.
In her spare time, Trinh likes to go shopping with her sisters and loves to try out new restaurants. In the near future, she plans to continue her dental education in order to be able to offer more assistance to our family of patients at SMILEWORKS.

Abby Michler, Aesthetician
Abby Michler is a licensed Medical Aesthetician who joined our staff in July of 2007.
She completed her training at the top ranked Aveda Institute in Minneapolis, MN. Her experience encompasses both the traditional and medical spa environments. She has been a practicing aesthetician since 2002 and is passionate about helping her clients achieve not just beautiful but healthy skin. She has also functioned as a medical assistant in the clinical dermatology setting to further her knowledge in proper skin health. She has attended various continuing education courses with Obagi, La Roche Posay-Biomedic, and Physicians Choice of Arizona. She is currently continuing her education at Golden West College in Huntington Beach where she eventually plans on completing a RN program. When not helping clients with their skincare needs, Abby enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband John and their chihuahua Monet. |
Dana Weidig, Aesthetician
Dana Weidig is a licensed Medical Aesthetician who joined our staff in June of 2007.
Dana Weidig is a native of the South Bay and a graduate of Mira Costa High School. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State University Long Beach. Dana followed her love of skin care and aesthetics, and became a licensed Aesthetician in 2005. She holds her credentials from many esteemed skin care institutions including; Dermalogica, Skinceuticals, Obagi and Colorescience among many others. Dana has also been a contributing writer to skincare_news.com. Her specialties are luxury, customized facials achieved through Visia skin analysis, pumpkin peels and eyebrow contouring.
Dana believes in an all-inclusive approach to skin care and anti-aging. This can be achieved through proper nutrition, skin exfoliation treatments, sun protection and use of mineral makeup. Every treatment plan is customized according to the patient's skin type and includes and adjunctive home care regimen. Skin truly is Dana's passion and is reflected in each and every treatment.
Cara Bustillos, Front Office (Dental Billing)
Cara comes to us with over ten years experience in the dental field. When calling our office, she’s one of the friendly front office staff that will assist you with scheduling appointments, insurance or billing questions. Cara enjoys taking vacations with her husband, Mike. She likes to take cruises all over the world, so if she’s not in the office she’s probably cruising around somewhere.
