After having a removal of my back upper molar, I had already had a consultation for a dental implant with a renowned oral surgeon in Las Vegas when a friend and past patient recommended Dr. Blake La Bounty to me.
After some serious research into Dr. LaBounty's credentials, I eventually chose him to perform the implant procedure instead because of his training, state-of-the-art technology, incredible staff, and renowned reputation.
Initially, my previous consultation with the other dentist led me to believe that I had sufficient bone mass to perform an implant without any need for bone grafting.
However, upon close inspection of my x-rays taken by his staff (which were far superior in resolution and imaging to past dentists' due to unparalleled technology) Dr. La Bounty noticed what he believed to be a
low-grade infection connecting my right sinus to my jaw/tooth cavity and also noted that my jaw had slightly insufficient bone mass needed to perform a proper implant.
He
recommended a sinus lift with bone grafting in order to execute the procedure accurately with long-term and more stable results.
I was slightly alarmed when faced with the idea of such a complicated procedure, especially because my nose had been broken within the last two years.
I was preparing for reconstructive rhinoplasty surgery to correct scar tissue as well as disconnected cartilage and I certainly didn't want to jeopardize any progress being made with that future surgery.
I voiced my concerns to Dr. LaBounty and explained to him that I had already recently seen an ENT (ear, nose, and throat specialist) because of symptoms suggesting a residual infection as a result from the trauma and subsequent surgery to my nose.
I had been put on anti-biotics for two weeks and I improved but the symptoms never fully went away and the cause of the infection was blamed on allergies and never resolved.
Dr. LaBounty advised me that performing the sinus lift was not only necessary for the bone grafting to take place, but that it would also substantially improve if not eliminate my infection and subsequent symptoms because it would treat the source of the infection instead of temporarily subduing it with anti-biotics.
Just before the procedure, Dr. LaBounty showed me my x-rays and carefully explained in words that I could actually understand what he was going to be doing and then prepared me with a few numbing injections.
I was pleasantly surprised with the acute level of attention Dr. LaBounty paid to my comfort during the whole process.
Very frequently I was asked if I was comfortable and if anything could be done to ease any tension I had.
I must say I've had root canals that were far more uncomfortable and stressful and I couldn't believe it when he told me he was done (I was still waiting for the horrible part to happen, but obviously it never came).
Although the procedure went exceptionally smooth, I anticipated having a lot of pain and swelling afterwards.
On the contrary, I ended up eating pudding and soft bread within hours of the numbing wearing off!
Within days, what little discomfort I experienced had subsided and my symptoms from the infection had vanished.
I can only imagine what would have happened if I had gone to another dentist and had an implant put in with an infection brewing as well as insufficient bone mass.
I highly recommend Dr. Blake LaBounty and his amazing staff.
Whether you are needing a simple check-up or a complicated procedure,
the environment Dr. LaBounty creates and the level of expertise that is practiced with every patient will far surpass any past experiences you may have had with other capable professionals.
I might even go as far to say that you may start enjoying your trips to the dentist. :-)
